Haine & Smith hopes to raise &\#163;10,000 for guide dogs

Wiltshire-based group Haine & Smith is raising money for charity and promoting the importance of eye care as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. The company is donating &\#163;2.50 from every eye examination to The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. It hopes to raise &\#163;10,000 to sponsor the training of four guide dogs. Partner Barry Smith said: 'We are delighted to have come so far over the last 25 years and would like to share our success with The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, which provides such a wonderful services to the blind and partially-sighted.' Haine & Smith is also promoting eye examinations as a vital part of a regular health care programme and highlighting that examinations can give early warning of conditions such as glaucoma and diabetes. Director of fundraising at The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association Jon Scourse said: 'Guide dogs help blind and partially-sighted people live the fullest and most independent lives possible and we are extremely grateful for this generous sponsorship. As a major supporter of research into the causes, treatment and prevention of sight-threatening diseases and conditions, we also welcome the importance that Haine & Smith is placing on the promotion of eye care.'
