Black & Lizars, the largest independent optical group in Scotland, has set its sights on expanding throughout the UK after its acquisition by a European investment consortium for a sum believed to be around £20m.
The Glasgow-based firm, which can trace its history back 178 years, will be chaired by UK retail veteran Maurice Bennett, founder of the Warehouse Group, Oasis Stores and Phase Eight.

The new chief of the company will be London-based optical retail entrepreneur Majid Sadjadi, who confirmed the expansion plans.
