Scotland-based independent group Black & Lizars has donated £40,000 to four charities as part of its 175th anniversary celebrations.
The four chosen charities, ChildLine Scotland, Cancer Research UK, Fight for Sight and Targu Mures Trust, which provides support for Transylvanian Holocaust survivors, will receive £10,000 each. Black & Lizars’ 21 branches raised funds through various activities including sponsored slims, hikes, swims, climbs and car boot sales.
The chain will repeat its corporate golf day and pub quizzes next year to raise additional funds. Joint chief executive Peter Ivins (below left) presented the cheque and said: ‘We are delighted to have raised this amount and we will continue our fundraising efforts until we reach our target of £17,500 each.
We want to thank all our staff and our customers who have so generously helped us.’
