Black & Lizars lead optometrist Colin Black has played an instrumental role in raising money for a dog that needs cataract surgery to restore its sight.
Tibetan Terrier Caspa was found in poor condition and suffering from thyroid problems after his elderly owner could no longer take care of him. The plight of the dog, descended from animals kept as good luck charms by Tibetan monks in a tradition going back 2,000 years, was brought to Black’s attention by his son Richard, who is a vet and practises at Rouken Glen Pets in Glasgow.
Black helped re-home Caspa, while new owner Anne Marie McCormack has led a crowdfunding campaign after former Black & Lizars chief executive Mark Ross, now joint managing director of Vets Now, agreed to reduce the cost of the £4,000 cataract surgery by 50 per cent.
