Bloobloom raises £3m to expand European presence

Designer eyewear brand Bloobloom has raised £3m in a follow-on funding round to facilitate the rollout of European retail stores and grow its online presence in the US.

The round was led by Pembroke VCT, contributing £2m, with an additional £1m from Social Impact Enterprises.

Founded in 2017 by brothers Fares and Abbas Manai, Bloobloom eliminated traditional retail markups and sold frames directly to consumers.

One standout feature included in its offering was a free home trial service, allowing customers to try five frames at home for five days.

In a joint statement, the co-founders said: ‘This latest round of funding will enable us to continue enhancing our technology platform and to maintain the outstanding service we provide to our customers.’
