Eye health

Boots has become the first high street optician to release an eye care application for Apple iOS devices. Launched to encourage patients to be more aware of their vision and eye health, the free app takes users through four easy to use checks. Visual acuity, astigmatism, duochrome and colour check tests are all included in the app, with patients receiving the results at the end of each test and then getting recommendations based on the findings.

Boots said the app had not been designed to replace comprehensive professional eye examinations by an optometrist, but was intended to offer people a simple and accessible way to better understand the significance of looking after vision and eye health.
