Boots Opticians to offer Optomap

Boots Opticians has partnered with Optos to offer Optomap technology as part of its ultimate eye test with installations starting this month in over one hundred practices.

The Optomap technology captured approximately 82% and 200◦ of the retina in a single shot, compared to 15% and 45◦ with traditional fundus photography.

This enhanced field of view facilitated the early detection, management and treatment of disorders and diseases in the retina.

Kyle Rowe, managing director at Boots Opticians, said: ‘Optomap technology is incredibly advanced and allows us to give an even more detailed picture of eye health.

‘Patients will not only gain peace of mind on their eye health, but also have the opportunity for the detection of serious health issues that may otherwise go unnoticed,’ he added.

Optos CEO Rob Kennedy said the company was delighted that Boots Opticians had integrated optomap into its advanced eye exams, believing that every patient should have the option of an ultra-widefield retinal scan.
