Brian Keefe bows out after 42 years

One of the best known faces in the profession, Brian Keefe, Dollond & Aitchison's director of professional services, has retired after 42 years with the company.

Mr Keefe joined D&A as a trainee optometrist in 1958. After qualifying he worked in D&A branches countrywide before moving to the Birmingham head office in 1978. Here he held many positions - including personnel director and optical controller - before becoming director of professional services in 1984. Mr Keefe said: 'I have so many memories to take away, including the last year, during which I joined the standards committee of the GOC as the FODO representative - this brought me another dimension of understanding of the optical scene.' Dr Rob Hogan has been named as his successor at D&A. He will continue this involvement when not at the Moreton Morrell Agricultural College where he has enrolled as a horticulture student.
