Brulimar Optical used the Paris show to announce its five-year deal to design a range of RAF-branded eyewear.

Manchester based-Brulimar has completed an arrangement with the Ministry of Defence which will enable it to market 12 designs for men in the 16-25 age range. The products will be labelled Skywear.

Managing director Howard Librae said he never imagined he would be doing business with the MoD. 'We want the range to depict the strength and macho glamour of the RAF as well as being thoroughly modern and attractive to the fashion-conscious young man.

The collection is expected to mix metals and plastics in a range of shapes including the classic aviator. Strong use of the RAF logo is expected.
