Eyewear manufacturer launches new concept to aid independent retailers

UK eyewear manufacturer Brulimar Optical Group has launched a new manufacturing division to aid independent retailers.

Stemming from a series of joint ventures with Chinese factories, the new service will allow retailers to maximise profits by ordering directly from the factory.

As well as offering staple products, retailers will be able to design their own collections, with 45 generic pre-selected models to act as a reference point.

Brulimar CEO Howard Librae said: ‘This whole direct from the factory to store concept is about providing retailers, of all sizes, with massive savings on optical frames and accessories that they’re already buying. Brulimar’s “all-in”pricing scheme enables stores to save upward of 50-60% of the amount they’re currently paying for core models.’

The service has been set up to compete with major chains like Specsavers, Boots and Optical Express who collectively control 62% of the optical market, according to research conducted by Mintel in 2015.

Brulimar has secured a ‘six figure funding deal’ with Allied Irish Bank (GB) to support the business venture.

Librae added: ‘All of our joint venture factories have been thoroughly inspected. We have ensured they meet high ethical working standards and are capable of handling all order types.’
