Six new doctors of optometry have been accredited in the past year by the joint Dr Optometry programme, run by the Institute of Optometry (IoO) and London South Bank University (LSBU).
Successful candidates included Paul Grace, Claudia Ashleigh, David Parkins, David Hillel Burns, Kathleen Goris (Watt), and Sharifa Hirani.
Professor Bruce Evans, director of research at the IoO, said: ‘I have been privileged to be principal supervisor for all the Dr Optometry students in our programme and it is wonderful to see clinicians transformed into researchers through the doctorate process.’
Applications were also sought for optometrists to start the programme in October, by applying before the end of August via the IoO website.
