Bursary aims to inspire

Specsavers launched the Bright Futures programme to boost careers in optometry

A new bursary programme that hoped to inspire and support school pupils to pursue a career in optometry has been launched by Specsavers.

More than £2,000 of financial support will be available to successful applicants as part of the Bright Futures programme.

Placements will include guaranteed part-time work in local Specsavers practices, providing first-hand experience, mentoring and shadowing. Practices will work with local schools to identify potential applicants.

‘The Bright Futures bursary will see participating Specsavers practices welcome a local student in their final year at school to work with them, with the aim that the young person will go on to study optometry at university,’ said Lucy Knock, Specsavers Early Careers manager.
