Raised awareness of drivers’ legal responsibilities of ensuring they drive with good vision is the aim of two concurrent campaigns set to be launched on August 6.
The campaigns, one led by road safety charity Brake and the other by the DVLA, will provide practitioners with information that can be passed on to patients to remind them of their responsibilities.
Mark Nevin, speaking on behalf of the Optical Confederation, said: ‘We warmly welcome both campaigns which will inform motorists of their legal responsibilities when driving, and the importance of always driving with good vision. Our “Your eyes save lives” campaign helped raise awareness of this important issue last autumn and we hope our members will avail themselves of this opportunity to repeat this message to their patients and local community.’
