New research claims one in four football fans is struggling to watch the World Cup on TV – or in the stadium for that matter – because of poor eyesight.
The College of Optometrists commissioned the NOP and its survey found that despite many fans calling into question the referee’s sight, it may be theirs which is at fault.
Publicising the survey, Kevin Lewis, president of the College, said: ‘The World Cup is one of the TV viewing highlights of the year, and it seems a terrible shame that so many people will fail to get the most out of it because their eyesight is not up to scratch.
