Capital solution for busy practitioners

The College of Optometrists has announced its next conference will be held in London to coincide with Optrafair organisers' first capital-based event, EyeFashion 2000.

The conference, to be held from Friday March 31 to Sunday April 2 2000, will take place at the Cumberland Hotel, Marble Arch. The chairman of the College's conference committee, Iain Anderson, said London had been chosen as it would be an optical focal point that weekend. 'Our members are busy practitioners and cannot always spare the time out of practice to travel to these optical events,' he said. 'By co-ordinating with the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians' EyeFashion 2000 exhibition, the College hopes to encourage more members to visit London. 'It gets them to both events when they may have had to look hard to justify one trip.' EyeFashion 2000 will take place at the Business Design Centre, Islington, between March 31 and April 2, and will offer 5,500m2 of exhibition space. Mr Anderson said more details on the College conference's clinical programme would be available shortly. 'London will be an international focus for the millennium celebrations, and by holding the conference in the nation's capital, the College hopes that its members can participate in some of that excitement.'
