Car drivers should face eye test every three years

After a vision screening check calls have been made for drivers to face eye tests on a regular basis.

Drivers' eyesight should be checked every three years it was claimed after one in three drivers failed a vision screening check at the recent Drive Safe Roadshow at Olympia in London.

Research conducted by Specsavers at the show revealed that of the 500 people checked, at least one third may be endangering lives by falling short of the minimum legal requirements set by the Department of Transport.

A staggering 92 per cent of those drivers surveyed thought that regular eye examinations should be compulsory at least every three years. Furthermore, 89 per cent said they would consider regular sight checks if it positively influenced the cost of their car insurance.
