An Australian judge has dismissed all claims of wrongdoing made against Specsavers by rival Luxottica (OPSM) over allegations that it obtained highly sensitive commercial information from two of its former employees.
The case centred around allegations made by Luxottica that Specsavers was in receipt of highly sensitive documents handed to them by two of its former employees named in court as husband and wife Andrew and Janet Grant who were both defendants in the case together with Specsavers.
In lodging the lawsuit, Luxottica was seeking the return of all proprietary documents it claimed were obtained by Specsavers from the Grants.
After five months of legal wrangling, a New South Wales Supreme Court awarded $10 nominal damages to be paid by Janet Gant for breach of contract and copyright infringement.
