CCEHC appoints new chair

Parul Desai takes over from David Parkins as chair

Consultant ophthalmologist Parul Desai has taken over from David Parkins as chair of the Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning.

Parkins will serve as vice-chair.

The CCEHC has since 2013 provided collective expertise to commissioners, providers, clinicians and policy-makers on the commissioning of eye health services in England.

Parkins said: ‘We have developed a range of commissioning frameworks which risk stratify the eye health and sight loss pathways and, if implemented at scale, would relieve some of capacity pressures within the system.

‘It’s been a privilege to serve as chair of the CCEHC which has achieved a great deal in terms of collaboration and output. In handing over the chairmanship to Parul, I know it is in safe and very capable hands.’
