Long distance swimmer Michael Mann (pictured left) has secured £500 in sponsorship from his local optical practice Observatory the Opticians.
The pilates teacher from Ipswich was aiming to raise £10,000 by swimming the English Channel in two years’ time and required £2,500 to take part in the challenge.
The rest of his fundraising was to be split between Diabetes UK, St Elizabeth Hospice and the Iceni Project.
Will Norman (also pictured), optometrist at Observatory the Opticians, said: ‘We heard about Michael’s challenge when he came in for an appointment. We were so inspired by his challenge we decided we just had to support him.’
