Jonathan Foreman, owner of Muswell Hill practice Observatory the Opticians, turned crime fighter after confronting thieves during an early morning raid on his practice.

Foreman, pictured with optical stylist Natalie Vassi, was working late at the premises installing a new computer system when he was startled by a noise in the upstairs of the building at 2am.

On investigating the noise, he found four raiders in a room which stored thousands of pounds worth of designer frames which were about to be displayed as part of practice’s recent redesign.

Three of the raiders fled immediately, but one stayed and tried to take more frames. He was chased out by Foreman, who managed to get the getaway vehicle’s number plate.
