Sight loss charity SeeAbility has been awarded a grant of over £300,000 from the Department of Health to develop its Children in Focus project.

The charity will use the grant to scale up its sight testing operations, as it sought to establish a robust eye care system for children with learning disabilities across England.

The sum was part of nearly £9m to be handed out to the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector over the next three years.

‘After Easter we are expanding our Children in Focus project to a Durham special school and then across the country,’ said Paula Spinks-Chamberlain, director of external affairs, SeeAbility.
