Charity cycle reaches donation milestone

Locum optometrist Nigel Gemmell has raised £1,095 for Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Group ahead of a 10-day cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Gemmell will ride an average of 100 miles a day with a friend, starting on August 31 and finishing on September 9, just before his 60th birthday.

Money raised will be donated to the charity in memory of Ben Pavitt, who was a patient of Gemmell’s and a school friend of his daughter.

Pavitt sadly died on October 8, 2021, shortly after sitting his GCSE’s. ‘Ben's legacy of love fund is enabling more research and treatment for those affected by this cruel disease and leukaemia,’ Gemmell said.
