The Super Duralumin Collection from frame firm Charmant has won a 2005 Good Design Award.

Using ultra-light materials and distinctive colours the models have an appearance of solidity and a sense of volume, according to the company.
With built-in sprung hinges for ease of use and side-ends shaped to prevent slippage, the eyewear is comfortable and pleasant to wear, it added.

'Winning this award is confirmation that not only is Charmant's product development revolutionary in terms of its work with titanium, but also that it balances both high quality and design,' said a Charmant spokesman.

The Good Design Award (G Mark) is Japan's only comprehensive system for rewarding and encouraging design, said Charmant.  Since 1998 it has been run as a project sponsored by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organisation.

Many companies and groups from Japan and overseas participate in the awards to promote a 'better lifestyle' and 'good business'.
