Ciba Vision was on hand recently to provide British champion downhill skier Laura Westmacott with eye care advice and new disposable contact lenses. The 20-year-old skier, who narrowly missed a gold medal at the recent World Citadin Championships, was fitted with Ciba's Focus monthly lenses by Black & Lizars in Glasgow. 'As glasses were out of the question while racing, I used to overcome my poor vision by memorising the exact setting of every gate and the topography of the hill,' Ms Westmacott explained. 'You have no idea of the difference in confidence and overall performance the contact lenses gave me,' she added. Ms Westmacott, who studies modern languages at Newcastle University, is a member of the Great Britain girls racing squad and the current British Universities champion.
