City University London will be introducing new one-day short courses for optometrists, with the aim of meeting the increasing demand for enhanced service delivery.
The first round of courses will run later in the year with further dates planned for 2012.
Professor Chris Hull, City's head of optometry, said there was growing demand for optometrists to improve their proficiency in referral refinement, acute red eye management, paediatric optometry and low vision.
City said that it worked closely with Essex Primary Eyecare (service provider to Essex LOC) and other stakeholders so that the courses met the requirements of current models of care.
