City introduces 2002 courses

City University has released details of its 2002 postgraduate certificate courses being offered by its Department of Optometry and Visual Science.
The subjects are diabetic shared-care screening, learning difficulties, clinical neurology and glaucoma shared-care screening.
The certificate course in diabetic shared-care screening, which will run from April 9-11, has been organised in conjunction with Moorfields Eye Hospital. It will cover optimal management of diabetic retinopathy under agreed criteria and the development of shared-care schemes within the current National Health Service climate. It will include practical sessions.
The learning difficulties course will aim to provide optometrists with theoretical background and clinical skills needed for patients who have profound learning difficulties and specific learning difficulties. It will run from April 21-23.
The course in clinical neurology of the visual system is believed by the university to be the only UK-based course giving optometrists access to relevant information despite the substantial progress of imaging over the last few years. It will run from June 9-11.
Glaucoma shared care will aim to provide optometrists with the necessary practical and theoretical base necessary to become members of the glaucoma shared-care scheme. This course will take place from July 14-16.
u There are limited places available for this yearÕs paediatric optometry course at the Institute of Optometry on November 25-27 2001, and the advanced ophthalmic investigations course from December 16-18 2001 at City University.
