CL company restructures

Cambridge-based contact lens manufacturer CLPL, which bought UltraVision International last year, has completed the restructuring of the two companies.

The changes have led to the formation of a new executive management team (pictured) and the departure of two UltraVision directors.
The deal, finalised in the summer (News, September 12), made CLPL one of the largest independent suppliers of contact lenses in Europe. This week CLPL confirmed that it and UltraVision would continue to operate as separate entities, each marketing its own product range. However, there would now be a single management team.
As part of the restructuring, UltraVision directors Stephen Hill and Chris Jamieson have both left the company. The new board comprises J Keith Lomas (group managing director), John Clamp (group technical director), John Bradley (group manufacturing director) and Gerry O'Donnell (group financial director).
Lomas said: 'There is a renewed spirit of enthusiasm and confidence that we can offer an attractive long-term alternative to the dominant global players.'
One of the directors' first priorities will be to use 'the group's new-found strength as one of the largest independent manufacturers and suppliers of contact lenses in Europe'.
CLPL specialises in technology solutions, custom-manufactured lenses for practitioners and hospitals. Based in Leighton Buzzard, UltraVision manufactures a range of soft, disposable and durable contact lenses.
