CLPL Ð Contact Lens Precision Laboratories Ð was established over 30 years ago and its customers include independent and multiple practices.
Its managing director, J Keith Lomas, told optician that the company had wanted to become the UK's number one independent contact lens manufacturer for several years.
'The combined strength and scale of CLPL and Ultravision will give all our customers confidence that we represent a viable, long-term alternative to the dominant global players.
'Ultravision has an excellent reputation, good products and a tradition of serving the needs of eye care professionals. The combined group will benefit from additional resources and management strengths,' he added.
Ultravision, formerly known as Igel International, is based in Leighton Buzzard, and was established in 1979.
before being acquired by the UltraVision Corporation in 1999.
Ultravision manufactures and supplies a range of soft, durable and disposable contact lenses, including Keratoconus and Aspheric disposable lenses.
