CL practitioners offered online training support

An award-winning information technology training company has agreed a deal with DOCET to develop an 'e-learning' training programme for optometrists in contact lens care.

KnowledgePool, a Berkshire personal and business skills training firm, will establish the course from next month. It will be offered to all registered optometrists in the UK either in the form of a browser-based CD-Rom option or directly online. The training will cover key areas of contact lens care including contact lens types, contact lens fitting, aftercare of lenses and dealing with specific contact lens problems. It includes a 'test yourself' section, providing a self-diagnostic tool. Users are provided with feedback on their score, highlighting areas of contact lens care where their knowledge is weak. Charles Greenwood, training project manager at DOCET, said: 'We aim to improve the public's eye health and care through CET to optometrists. This innovative, easy-to-use programme will provide an invaluable training and reference tool to help us in that aim.'
