Clulow targets high fliers at Heathrow

David Clulow Opticians is to open its first 'concept store' at Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 selling sunglasses and ophthalmic spectacles.Scheduled to open in February, the dispensing-only outlet will employ around 15 people to cover the 18-hour daily opening period. There will be a 20-minute glazing service on simpler spectacle prescriptions with more complex requests available for collection on return or through a home delivery service.Richard Peck, business development director at Clulow Optika Group, told optician: 'We're not just offering another sunglass store. It will offer very exclusive products at duty-free prices.'He added that this could be the first of many similar concept outlets to open at airports across the UK. The group is to launch a marketing campaign to encourage patients to take their prescriptions with them when they travel.
