College attracts pioneer to speak at Bristol conference

The speakers for next year's College of Optometrists conference have been announced, and the keynote address has attracted a pioneer of laser treatment for ophthalmic diseases.

The speakers for next year's College of Optometrists conference have been announced, and the keynote address has attracted a pioneer of laser treatment for ophthalmic diseases.

Dr Peter Hamilton, who worked for Moorfields Eye Hospital for over 30 years, will lead the keynote Champness Lecture at the Optometry Tomorrow event in Bristol.

A consultant ophthalmologist, Dr Hamilton is a retinal specialist whose research has been concentrated on age-related macular disease and diabetic retinopathy.

Published widely in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals, he is the lead editor of the well-known reference book, Text Atlas of the Retina, and is also the lead author of Management of Diabetic Retinopathy.

Also speaking will be Dr Alison Findlay (City University lecturer), Dr Frank Eperjesi (Aston University), Dr Margaret Woodhouse (Cardiff University), and Dr Chris Hammond (City University).

The conference will take at Bristol's Marriott Hotel on April 2-3 2006.
