College calls for feedback on best practice guide

The College of Optometrists called on the public to provide proposed updates for The Guidance for Professional Practice (GfPP).

The four key updates included new sections on myopia management, and remote and virtual care provision; clarity that the same optometrist must perform refraction, ocular health assessment and the issuing of a prescription during a sight test; reduction of recording and oversight for diagnostic prescription only medicines.

The College said that, following the three-year-review, it is now in the final review stage before it is published in December. An expert review group has assessed and refined each change into the drafting of the new sections.
