College establishes university partnerships

Partnerships between the College of Optometrists and 12 universities have been established to deliver clinical learning in practice (Clip) placements as part of the new route to qualification in optometry.

Clip was designed by the College to offer facilitation of the placement process, enhanced support and training for supervisors as well as assessment of students.

Professor Lizzy Ostler, director of education at the College, said: ‘We will draw on the UK-wide network of expertise and experience that we have established from delivering the Scheme for Registration to ensure that students feel supported as they progress through this part of their master’s degree and meet GOC outcomes.’
