College appoints lead assessor

Optometrist Rebekah Stevens has been appointed as lead assessor at the College of Optometrists to provide guidance, advice and training to the UK-wide team of College assessors.

Stevens will support pre-reg optometrists through the Scheme for Registration and those on the Clinical Learning in Practice (CLiP) placement programme, which will form part of new optometry degrees.

‘My key goals are to demystify supervision and assessment processes and make tasks as straightforward and efficient as possible for assessors and supervisors, whilst ensuring that all who qualify are safe and effective practitioners. I will be also working with the wider College team to ensure the successful introduction of the new CLiP programme,’ Stevens said.
