The College of Optometrists agreed to freeze membership subscription rates at a council meeting in London late last month.
College treasurer David Parkins recommended the rates remained unchanged, stressing it was important to keep them affordable and offer good value for money, despite the fact inflation is running at nearly 5 per cent. The council also approved proposals that a £5 discount should continue to be offered to full members who paid by direct debit, with pro-rata discounts for other classes of membership.
