The College of Optometrists is allowing members to spread the cost of its subscriptions over four direct debit payments.

The College, whose subscription year runs from October 1 to September 30, told Optician this week that the move was in direct response to the need for members to have flexible payment options in the current economic climate.

Moreover, the College Council agreed to freeze the core subscription level for this year. It also decided to donate £2 from each member's subscription to the Benevolent Fund run by the College and the Association of Optometrists.

The membership fee for residents of the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands remains £286.02 during the current subscription cycle.
