Last month’s Independent Prescribing exam delivered a 93 per cent pass rate, reported the College of Optometrists.
In total, 26 candidates passed the June 2014 sitting, to take the number of optometrists who have passed and can now prescribe medicines for certain eye conditions to almost 300.
Jacqueline Martin, College director of education, said: ‘We are delighted that the high pass rates for this qualification are being upheld. These results are testimony to a strong course structure, excellent teaching and the hard work of students.
‘We continue to see a lot of interest in Independent Prescribing, and other College higher qualifications, which is fantastic news for both the profession and for patients.’
