College sets date for Liverpool conference

The College of OptometristsÕ next conference will take place in Liverpool next year, it has been announced.
ÔConference 2002Õwill be held from Sunday November 17 to Monday November 18 2002 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in the city.
The College will be hoping for a better turnout than the previous conference, held in London last year, which attracted an attendance below what was hoped for. Organisers aim to build on the excellently attended CET day the College held earlier this year (News, April 6).
The programme for 2002 will include areas of scientific and clinical interest. Lecture topics planned include the red eye, ocular infections, nutrition and the eye, electrophysiology, visual imaging, laser refractive surgery, paediatric strabismus, orthoptics, low vision, contact lenses, glaucoma, and visual plasticity.
The event will offer CET credits to those who attend.
ÔThe Crown Plaza Hotel will provide an excellent setting for Conference 2002,Õ commented Iain Anderson, member of the College Conference Committee. ÔIt has a superb city centre location on LiverpoolÕs famous waterfront, opposite the Royal Liver Building, and provides easy access to LiverpoolÕs recently developed Albert Docks area, the cityÕs theatres, galleries and the many excellent restaurants and bars.
ÔWe look forward to meeting delegates and their partners at the welcome reception at the impressive Tate Liverpool art gallery, and at the conference dinner which will be hosted at the stunning Town Hall.Õ
