Details of dispensing optician Continuing Education and Training (CET) credits for the College of OptometristsÕ 2002 conference, to be staged in November, have been announced.
Approval for 15 CET credits by ABDO have been made for the Liverpool event, with 11.5 credits awarded for general dispensing, three credits for contact lenses and 0.5 credits for low vision.
The conference is being held at the cityÕs Crowne Plaza Hotel on November 17 and November 18. It will feature speakers who will discuss a range of topics including ÔVisual plasticityÕ by Professor Colin Blakemore, director of the Oxford Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience, and ÔLaser refractive surgeryÕ by David Gartry, consultant in ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Professor Peng-Tee Khaw, Professor of Wound Healing and Glaucoma Studies at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London, will discuss his research into the prevention of blindness due to ocular scarring following surgery.
Workshop sessions, open to delegates on both days, cover various subjects, including learning disabilities, orthokeratology and binocular vision.
There is also an exhibition and five-course dinner, which will be hosted at Liverpool Town Hall on November 17.
