The College of Optometrists will launch its new website on September 1, as part of its jubilee year celebrations.
The relaunch, partly in response to members' feedback on the current site, will make www.college-optometrists.org more comprehensive, easier to navigate and will contain news from the College and the industry generally.
It will provide information to its members, the public and the media and promote the value of optometrists' services to a broader audience.
A College statement said the members' area will provide a 'one-stop shop' for information, including important member information and access to College publications such as its guidance and framework documents.
Fact sheets on common eye conditions and a detailed look at the eye exam will be available to the public and an online media centre will provide journalists answers to frequently asked questions.
A dedicated students' area will include 'PRP Talk', a forum for students to discuss their studies and the pre-registration period with peers, College examiners and experts in the field.
The College told optician the future of its Monoptica site was currently being discussed.
