College welcomes Research Excellence Awards entries

Nominations were welcomed for The College of Optometrists’ annual Research Excellence Awards 2025 until June 30, in recognition of inspirational individuals significantly contributing to the evidence base that underpins good practice.  

Five awards were open, including the Arthur Bennett prize; Neal Charman medal; Philip Cole prize; Frank Petticrew award for contact lens research, practice or education in optometry; and the George Giles postgraduate research prize. 

Michael Bowen, director of knowledge and research at The College, said the awards provided an opportunity to celebrate outstanding achievements of optometrists working in eye health and vision research: ‘Research forms the foundation of clinical and professional practice and plays a critical role in the advancement of the profession.’
