Over 30 MPs attended a reception in Parliament earlier this month to hear blind and partially sighted campaigners and eye health professionals who are working to raise the profile of eye health and secure a better deal for those with sight loss.

The event at the Members' Dining Room in the House of Commons covered the work of the cross-parliamentary group on Eye Health and Visual Impairment. It also gave parliamentarians the chance to see the latest imaging technology, optical coherence tomography (OCT), courtesy of Topcon.

MPs also experienced some of the specialist equipment used in the workplace by people with sight loss, although they heard that two thirds of blind and partially sighted people of working age are not in work.
