Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is voluntarily recalling a limited number of boxes from select lots of 1-Day Acuvue TruEye contact lenses after it received a number of customer complaints associated with narafilcon A contact lenses in Japan.
According to J&J some of the reported complaints described unusual stinging or pain upon insertion with narafilcon A contact lenses, while some were also associated with ocular redness. After an investigation, J&J reported that it had been caused by 'an isolated issue in one portion of the lens rinsing process on a particular manufacturing line in a select number of lots'. It assured customers no other lots of 1-Day Acuvue TruEye and no other Acuvue contact lens had been associated with the manufacturing issue.
