The world's first daily disposable silicone hydrogel contact lens will be available in the UK and Ireland from this autumn.
Johnson & Johnson Vision Care unveiled the 1-Day Acuvue TruEye lens at last week's British Contact Lens Association conference in Birmingham (May 29).
The lens is manufactured from a new material, narafilcon A, which has an oxygen transmissibility (Dk/t) of 118. It features Hydraclear 1, a moisture-rich ingredient specifically designed for the daily disposable modality and a new formulation of the technology used in the Acuvue Advance and Oasys silicone hydrogel lenses.
The parameter range at launch will be a base curve of 8.5mm and 14.2mm diameter with powers from -0.50D to -6.00D, to be followed by a 9.0mm base curve and powers from -12.00D to +6.00D.
