Huddersfield’s The Body Doctor has won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise with an Innovation Award for the development of The Eye Doctor, a hot eye compress for the relief of eye conditions.
The Body Doctor is a family-run business under the leadership of Sue Grant, a previous winner of the Queen’s Award for Innovation. Grant and her two sons, Adam, 25 (pictured left) and Sam, 22 (right) launched the firm’s first product in 2013.
In 2015, Dr Hilary Jones contacted the company to offer his feedback on the products. He had suffered with blepharitis for many years and the company said he found the hot eye compress very effective. ‘He believes in the product and is happy to recommend it,’ says Grant.
On the accolade, Grant said: ‘We feel very proud to receive a Queen’s Award in recognition of the dedication of the entire Body Doctor team. This award is internationally known, we have had success with the product as far away as the USA and Japan. This is great for our local community.’
