Conditional order extended

Optometrist Aveline Horton has had her conditional registration period extended by six months at a GOC fitness to practise committee review hearing.

Horton was placed on conditional registration for 11 months in June 2011 after allegations were made into her behaviour at work. At the time, the committee said Horton could be a risk to her patients.

At last week's hearing, the committee said it was not aware of any concerns over the performance of Horton, who works as a locum optometrist. However, it still felt she posed an ongoing risk to patients should she be allowed to return to practise without restrictions.
