Silicone Hydrogels: The Rebirth of Continuous Wear Contact Lenses is edited by Deborah Sweeney of the Cornea and Contact Lens Research Unit in Sydney, Australia, and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. The book is based on the BCLA's Continuing Education Day which preceded last year's conference and contains the latest information on silicone hydrogel contact lenses from experts in the field. Professor Sweeney will be signing copies of the book on the Butterworth-Heinemann stand at 12.30pm on Friday May 26, the first day of the conference, at the Stakis Metropole Hotel. The author will be discussing continuous wear in a manufacturer's session at 4.45pm on May 27. This year's CE Day, The cornea: examination in clinical contact lens practice, takes place on Thursday May 25 and will also form the basis of a book to be edited by chairman for the day, Professor Nathan Efron. For further details of BCLA 2000, contact Vivien Freeman on 020 7580 6661. - Places are still available for the one-day course 'Contact lens practice in the new century' to be held at the Queen's Hotel in Leeds on Wednesday June 28.
