The College of Optometrists has updated amber phase advice

Amber phase guidance has been updated by the College of Optometrists to include non-medical contact lens fitting, following a consultation on its Covid-19 advice.
Contact lens fitting can now take place if a practitioner wishes to fit a patient, providing a risk assessment to establish if it can be done safely has taken place.
The College advised that in addition to infection control procedures and the practitioner wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment, that a patient should wear a face covering.
Contact lens application and removal teaching should be carried out while socially distanced by using video demonstrations and practising in a quiet area of the practice with a transparent plastic screen put up.
