Coopervision has named Romana Khaliq as its 2015 student of the year

Coopervision studentCoopervision has named Romana Khaliq as its 2015 student of the year.

The Glasgow University optometry student picked up her prize at the National Student Summit, where shortlisted entries from each of the optometry universities presented their final year projects to a judging panel of lecturers and academics.

The projects, all concerning contact lenses and the anterior eye, were judged on the grounds of their originality, usefulness and potential application, and the students on their presentation skills and subject knowledge.

Khaliq’s work had combined a comparison of two methods of assessing evaporation from the eye along with how different contact lenses might influence this.

She was presented with a cheque for £2000 and the chance to present her work at the forthcoming international student event to be held in Budapest.

A full review of each finalist study will appear in next week’s Optician.
