The first BCLA Tutor under the Association's pilot scheme for UK training institutions supervised her first undergraduate students last month.
Anne Jones, formerly head of optometry at the University Hospitals of Leicester, has joined the University of Bradford optometry department in the new position of BCLA Tutor. Jones's primary role will be to provide a contact lens teaching resource for students and to act as an ambassador for the Association.
The position has been made possible by a BCLA grant for the academic year 2007-2008. If successful, the pilot scheme may be extended to other training institutions in future years, the BCLA said.
